Lifeworks Youth Group get excited for Christmas

Lifeworks Endsleigh Garden Christmas web

Singing penguins were absolutely fantastic

To get the Lifeworks Young Adults in the Christmas mood we started our day with a visit to Endsleigh Garden Centre which the young people had asked to visit last time we went past. It was beautifully decorated as always and got everyone excited and enthusiastic about Christmas. Everybody agreed that that the singing penguins were absolutely fantastic. Once the team had taken in the Christmas atmosphere and had a good walk around we found time to chill out in the café, with many buying themselves a much-needed refreshing drink.

The Ivybridge brewery Experience

Next stop was the Ivybridge Brewery Co. where were warmly greeted by Simon and his team many of who have learning disabilities too, as the brewery wants to support people with disabilities and giving volunteering opportunities and paid employment which is amazing.  You can meet the Ivybridge brewery Co at our Panto we will be delivering at Christmas as they will be there to sell beer to help with the Christmas spirit! More information on our pantomine on the 20th December will be posted soon.

We were than shown how to make beer from the Malt having warm water poured on it and strained through the hops and the yeast being added and the mashing – After this we all had a go at bottling the beer and last but defiantly not least, those young people who wanted to, were allowed to have tasters – The lighter beer proving more popular than the dark beer, cheers!

Thank You

A BIG thank you to everyone at the Ivybridge Brewery Co. for making the day so special.

A Special Thank You to SJ

It is all change at Community Projects! After many years of putting her heart and soul into making the Saturday groups and holiday programmes exciting adventures, S-J is moving on to pastures new.  We will all miss her passion, enthusiasm and fun, but wish her well in her future endeavours.  As you may have read in our CEO’s recent letter, Community Projects will now be run by Lifeworks’ College and we look forward to building on the great work that has already been achieved.’

COMMUNITY PROGRAMMES YOUTH GROUPS

Our Community Projects are co-designed by the young people themselves. Our young people should decide what their tomorrow looks like. So, with their ideas, hopes and aspirations we work with a network of local community partners to make it happen. Whether you already join us on Community Programmes or are new and interested in giving something a go – we would love to hear from you. Please get in touch with us to have a chat: communityprojects@lifeworks-uk.org or call 01803 861069
