Surfs up for Lifeworks summer holiday project
On Friday 26th August it was a warm and welcome return to Sedgewell Beach in Bigbury with lots of activities and socialising for our lifeworks young people and families at this FREE event.
During the day Lifeworks young adults and their families took to the waves surfing, with the excellent help and instruction from the Discovery Surf School. Sarah-Jane Lowson, Lifeworks Community Development Manager said; “Everyone had such an amazing time and I can’t thank enough all our staff, volunteers and Trustees who made the day so special. It also goes without saying how brilliant Discovery Surf School were. They are the most awesome team and these guys worked really hard with the Lifeworks Community event today.”
Beach foraging and BBQ lunch
After all the excitement on the waves it was time for a family beach forage with Wild & Curious, alfresco cooking with Food in Community and beach games with Lift-the-Lid. Christian Jenkins, Lifeworks Trustee who attended the event and is very much hands on at our community programmes said; “This event is not just to increase people’s well-being and physical health. It is also a chance for young people and their families to meet up and build friendships. And it is these activities that our young people and their families tell us they want. It’s so inspiring to see at first-hand the positive impact this day and other events have.”
The Lifeworks Summer Holiday group have had an amazing few weeks. It’s been delightful to see the postive impact of the Lifeworks Summer Holiday Programme and we would like to thank all our partners and supporters as well the Devon Holiday Activities and Food Programme
