Since 1996, Lifeworks has been empowering people with learning disabilities in Devon to achieve their dreams and build fulfilling lives. Our core values of kindness, respect, and positivity guide everything we do.

How you can get involved

We offer a wide range of volunteering opportunities, so there’s truly something for everyone. Whether you’re looking for an active role or something more behind-the-scenes, we’d love to hear from you!

You could be:

– Joining our young people for exciting activities like surfing, cycling at the velodrome, wild swimming on Dartmoor, or participating in the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
– Providing essential support by driving our minibus, helping with gardening, or assisting at events.
– Contributing to our operations by supporting our fundraising.

People choose to volunteer for a variety of reasons. For some it offers the chance to give something back to the community or make a difference to the people around them. For others it provides an opportunity to develop new skills or build on existing experience and knowledge. Regardless of the motivation, what unites them all is that they find it rewarding.

There are lots of different ways you can get involved, maybe joining our service users on the beach surfing, pedalling around the velodrome, wild swimming on Dartmoor or perhaps getting involved in the Duke of Edinburgh Award? Lifeworks is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our residents. This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and the successful candidate will undergo Safer Recruitment checks, which include pre-employment checks, reference checks, and a DBS check. We may also conduct online searches on the successful applicant. This will be part of a safeguarding check to assess whether the candidate is suitable to work with vulnerable people.
