Safe-Space Donation make generous donation to Lifeworks Safe-Space project

Online Support in Lockdown

On Monday 4 May last year, we launched a new online service to support young people with learning disabilities who we facing the first challenging lockdown.  The project called Safe-Space has been a constant since then, providing access to activities, fitness, music, dancing and seeing friends. For many of the people we support during lockdowns and through ongoing shielding it has been a lifeline.

Since Safe-Space launched Lifeworks have supported people to take part in over 3,000 activities online. Make a Donation

This week continued their support of our work by making a generous £600 towards these activities which rely on funding to run. They join key supporters Children in Need in making sure that the young people we support can access a range of activities whatever the Covid situation brings.

John at Claims said “We’re really excited at to support such as worthwhile cause in Safe Space online. We’re a big believer in using the power of technology to bring people together, and especially given the increased isolation during Covid, we think it’s great that Safe Space provides a platform for fun virtual events. We hope our help goes a little way towards catching up with friends – old and new, and plenty of laughs!”

The Difference Safe-Space Makes

Their support will mean a great deal to the young people accessing activities online as you will see below:

“This is what I need right now – letting go and having fun. Even though I don’t know you all, you feel like family – I wish I could give you a hug – stay safe – and see you when we’re out of this pandemic” Young Person 2020

She said yesterday, ‘I’ve had a great day today’. Not bad when you’ve been shielded for the past 10 weeks! “ Parent 2020

Thanks for all the zoom activities – they saved us this week” Parent 2021
