Buckland Abbey Adventure
Our Lifeworks Young Adults Saturday Social Group (YASS) spent an amazing Autumn day out at the National Trust Buckland Abbey. This Autumn half-term the Lifeworks team celebratied all things apples. They were inspired with recipes to motivate them with autumn treats to make at home. They watched the Rangers as they gave green woodworking demonstrations and joined in by making celebratory willow headdresses. One the Lifeworks young adults even said “”I have never eaten an apple straight from a tree”
They all had their walking boots on and headed out onto the beautiful Buckland estate and were treated to far-reaching views, peaceful spots to rest a whilst taking in the varied autumn colours.

Morris Dancing and more
There was also time to spend watching the amazing and colourful Dartmoor Border Morris group, who entertained the delighted crowd. The Morris group are a mixed side, where inclusivity is their aim and enthusiasm & commitment is key. Something that the Lifeworks Youth Group fully embrace. Their costume consists of a tattered jacketx, black trousers, and shoes/boots, a Dartmoor Border t-shirt/jumper and a hat. The tatters are a multitude of colours, depicting the green on the moorland grass, the brown and grey of the tor’s.
The Lifeworks team also wandered through Buckland Abbey, and discovered a wealth of fascinating tales, amazing architecture and over eight centuries of history. They even enjoed a very competitive game of skittles. All in all, it was a fabulous day out which the Lifeworks team thoroughly enjoyed. We would like say a special heartfelt thank you to Sarah and Ed the rangers who looked after us really well

Thank You
A BIG thank you to the National Trust Buckland Abbey and the wonderful Dartmoor Border Morris group,
