Support Workers – Full-Time Days (Learning Disabilities)
Dartington, Devon

Salary scale: £11.03 – £11.65 per hour (dependant on qualifications)
Working hours: Full-time days (40 hours per week)

We are looking for amazing full-time Day Support Workers to join the team within our 10-bed Residential & Short Break Home in Dartington.

About the Role

Children and young people with learning disabilities and their families are at the heart of everything we do, and we want every person we support to have a great life with excellent outcomes. We couldn’t achieve that without all the great Support Workers who join our care teams. It all starts with you!

There is no such thing as a ‘typical’ Support Worker. Our staff come from lots of different backgrounds, people with little or no experience but want a job that involves helping people, those who want a change of career, as well as experienced Support Workers. The one thing that links them all together is their desire to work with young learning-disabled people, make their lives better, and help them to learn something new or take a further step towards independence. Our Support Workers certainly don’t see what they do as ‘just another job’.

No two days will be the same as you will get involved in a variety of different tasks and activities whilst helping young people to learn the skills they need to live the life they choose.

Our full-time day support workers have a shift pattern of 2 days on, 2 days off. The shifts will consist of either split shifts (07.00-10.00 then 14.30-21.30) or 12 hour shifts (08.00-20.00 or similar) dependent on whether it’s during term time or a weekend/school holiday.

About Us

Based in South Devon, Lifeworks provide high-quality short breaks and residential care, community-based programmes and specialist further education to children, young people and adults with learning disabilities. At Lifeworks, we believe in the rights of all individuals with a learning disability, however complex, to receive the services and support they need to develop the skills and confidence to reach their full potential.

Lifeworks is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young adults and they expect all staff to share this commitment. For this post, pre-employment checks will be carried out, references will be sought, and successful candidates will need to undertake an enhanced DBS check.

About You

Ideally, you will have previous experience in this sector and hold a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent). Though this qualification is by no means essential, a willingness to gain the qualification within two years is required.

In return, we would like to support you in making care work your career, offering you an extensive induction on commencement of employment and an amazing array of training opportunities. We will also work with you on your own individual development plan to help you to progress your career.

Benefits

We are a well-established charity that provides an excellent range of staff benefits:

– 28 days’ annual leave (including bank holidays), increasing with service
– Annual incremental pay rises (within grade)
– Pension and Life Assurance (T&Cs apply)
– Enhanced Company Sick Pay (after qualifying period)
– Employee Assistance Scheme
– Retail/High Street shopping discounts (Charity Discounts)
– Fully funded Enhanced DBS & Update Service
– Refer a Friend bonus scheme (T&Cs apply)
– Comprehensive induction and training programs
– Fully funded Level 3 qualification

As a Disability Confident Employer, applications from applicants who declare they have a disability, provided they meet the minimum job criteria as specified in the person specification, will be guaranteed an interview.
