As a Job Coach at Lifeworks College, you’ll play a vital role in helping young people with learning disabilities gain qualifications and obtain valuable experience at work placements, to enable and encourage them into sustainable and meaningful employment after college.
You’ll work closely with interns, employers, and our team to provide tailored support, break down barriers, and celebrate successes.
What you’ll do:
– Empower interns: provide personalised support to help interns reach their full potential, building their confidence and skills
– Forge strong partnerships: develop and maintain professional relationships with employers, advocating for interns and breaking down barriers
– Promote inclusivity: champion inclusivity and equality and set a positive example for others
– Ensure effective support: collaborate with your colleagues to deliver tailored support that meets the specific needs of each intern and their work placements
– Monitor progress and provide feedback: track intern progress, conduct regular assessments, and offer constructive feedback to drive improvement
– Deliver training and coaching: provide training where required and support with coaching and mentoring to equip interns with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed
About you
What we’re looking for:
– You will have a good level of education and be proficient in IT (specifically Microsoft packages)
– You’ll hold a Level 3 Job Coaching qualification (or be willing to work towards one) and an Information, Advice and Guidance qualification (or significant experience of coaching and mentoring young people with learning disabilities)
– Experience working with learning disabilities and young people with complex/challenging behaviours (preferably in an educational setting)
– Experience working 1:1 in a similar role, including a strong background generating and maintaining work placements and building professional relationships with employers
– Strong communication abilities, a keen attention to detail and organisational skills are a must. You will also be practical and take a methodical approach to tasks
– You will need to hold a full driving licence for this role, and be able to drive a college minibus when required
– Most importantly, you must be passionate about supporting individuals with learning disabilities
Working hours:
As a Job Coach, you will work Monday-Friday for 52 weeks per year, 37.5 hours per week. The hours for this role are 08.30-16.30.
