Lifeworks Summer Holiday Activities 2022
Lifeworks mission is to support people with learning disabilities to have a great life. Our Holiday Project Summer 2022 has been developed in partnership with young people who use our services and is open to young people with learning disabilities age 11-18. We use the 5 Steps to Mental Wellbeing as a framework for our programme. Connect with other people, be physically active, learn new skills. give to others and be in the present moment (mindfulness) This summer, by special request, there is a lot of water, food, and being outdoors – we hope to see you there! The cost is £80.50 per day for 1:3 support and £138.50 for 1:1 support or FREE for young people aged 11 – 16 who get free school meals.

Constuctor Music Premier Performance at Dartington Great Hall
Constructor premier performance in the stunning Great Hall at Dartington – lunchtime 12 noon – 12.30pm monday 25 july
Constructor half day rehearsals take place at space studios, dartington 1-4pm sunday 24 july and 9.30-11.30am monday 25 july for our young musical constructors.
Lifeworks Summer Holiday Project WEEKS 1 to 4 for young people 11-18
Week 1 – Tuesday 2 August – Friday 5 August
We have some amazing activities planned for the Summer Holidays. Including a day out at the Apricot Centre harvesting fresh ingredients on the farm, cooking lunch over and open fire. As well as Canoeing at Sharpham with Adelong Adventures, there will also be pizza making, football and multi-sport, a talent show and even time for some mindfulness and yoga
Week 2 – Tuesday 9 August – Friday 12 August
Week 2 includes smoothie making and foraging with Wild & Curious on the banks of the river Dart & on the Dartington Estate. We will also be finding unwanted vegetables on the farm with Food in Community and giving them back to the community. A day out is planned at the Apricot Centre harvesting fresh ingredients on the farm, cooking lunch over and open fire and playing in the fields and finishing the week there will be a chance to try coasteering with Adelong Adventures at Start Point. Week 3 – Tuesday 18 August – Friday 19 August
We will be helping Food in Community pack fresh fruit and veg for the community/foraging for & making wild popcorn with Wild & Curious. Zumba sessions with Sophie & Mindfulness with Stacey will be good for your body and soul. Then then a day out at River Dart Country Park on the zipwire and some water play (water fights optional!) followed by Gorge Scrambling with Adelong Adventures. Week 4 – Tuesday 23 August – Friday 26 August
Start the week Hula-hooping with Sophie C & a bit of then a bit of light weeding for the Dartington Pool. And then a cool down swim to say thank you for your help. We also have a day out in The Orchard at Lupton, a real-life survival day: Bushcraft – Den Building, Wood Work + Pizza Making and more! And on Friday is our FREE Family surfing event at Bigbury.

It’s a welcome return to the beach and socialising for our young people and families at this FREE event on Friday 26th August. During the day there will be Surfing for young people booked on for WEEK 4 + 2 sessions for brothers and sisters, a family beach forage with Wild & Curious, alfresco cooking with Food in Community and beach games with Lift-the-Lid. The event is not just to increase people’s well-being and physical health. It is also a chance for young people and their families to meet up and build friendships. And it is these activities that our young people and their families tell us they want to do.
Lifeworks Safe-Space Online for all ages
Safe-Space is a free easy to use web-based platform for young people with learning disabilities. There you will find resources you can use every day including cooking, music and keep fit videos. Each week we provide a free LIVE programme. Safe-Space is a moderated space – Lifeworks staff are there with you.
