Our College has just had a full OFSTED inspection where we were rated as ‘good’ across all four categories of:
- Leadership and management
- Quality of teaching, learning and assessment
- Personal development, behaviour and welfare
- Outcomes for learners
This meant we got an overall inspection rating of ‘good’ so now we aspire to be an ‘outstanding’ provision. We were told that it is unusual for a new provision to gain a ‘good’ grading on its first OFSTED, so we are very proud of our students and staff.
The inspectors particularly liked the range and success of our work placements for all our students. They felt we worked well with the local community by supporting projects on the Dartington Estate. The Lead Inspector supported our view that we provide a good provision for students who have left school and are moving into an employment-focussed world.
We try to find students long-term work placements that can lead to permanent work-based placements when they leave College with the support of a job coach. We are also looking to extend our Gardening Project.
If you need help with your garden or think you may be able to offer one of our students a supported work placement please contact:
Students have recently started to challenge staff to sporting competitions. The first one of these was a football match which took place at Totnes Pavillions and was refereed by Kev Teague the Pavillions Manager. After a hard warm-up of drills and practicing penalties, the match eventually finished 5-5. Honours even and trophy shared! Next challenge – archery.
