Making a Splash at Bigbury!

Sixty-four families joined us at Bigbury-on-Sea on Saturday, 14th June for the first Breaking the Barrier surf event for the 2014 season.

The event, sponsored by JLT Exeter, Sported and South West Water, was a huge success, with all of the young people very quickly getting a taste for riding the waves. As ever, the fantastic specialist instructors from Discovery Surf School did some really inspirational work with the young people.
Everyone enjoyed the surfing, with the family fun day on the beach as the “icing on the cake.” The lovely gang from Totnes Rotary Club once again provided and ran the Barbeque to keep the hungry surfers happy, whilst we were serenaded by local band, Mig.

We would like to say a huge thank you to our sponsors, to Totnes Rotary Club and also all of our fantastic volunteers including the staff from JLT Exeter and Lloyds Bank Totnes who worked tirelessly to help us make Breaking the Barrier’s 8th year at Bigbury-on-Sea a success.

We are now looking forward to the Saunton event on the 5th of July (spaces full) and then the final event at Polzeath on the 20th September (spaces still available- check here for further info.)
